Makeshift Christmas Holidays
A serious car accident left my family with almost no money one year, and my mother was feeling rather upset about it. I went out and found a large dead branch, and we wrapped it up as a Christmas tree and sat around it and ate pb&j sandwiches.

My father was in a coma after his car accident, and the bills from that/surgery/physical therapy left us with nothing. This remains my mothers favourite family memory, and is one of the only years my family was happy together for Christmas dinner.
